TrimmingOur trim department has now been operating for 24 years and in that time carried out many jobs that have resulted in Concours show winners. Using finest Andrew Muirhead Scottish hides, we carry out full or partial re-trims, new hoods, tonneau covers and custom work in materials to suit customer’s tastes. Large stocks of materials are held in stock for a rapid delivery. We also undertake to make full interior trim kits which can be sent via mail order to UK and overseas customers. Carpet sets, in a range of colours can usually be made within a 2 to 3 week cycle. One off items such as bespoke waterproof suitcase covers, normal dust sheets and exterior storm covers are all made on the premises.
Whilst it is not a requirement of employment, owning a Morgan helps. Our trim lady Barbara Millard, bought her first Morgan from Melvyn in 1982 and has never been without one ever since, now on her third one. Seen here making a leather gearbox tunnel for a 1970 Moss box Plus 8. Her own Morgan is a black 1972 Moss box Plus 8 which she drives with relish.
All makes and types of upholstery undertaken, including this total ground up rebuild on a 1947 Morgan 3 wheeler. The car arrived with only two bare front seats and not much else in the trim section. The 1983 4/4 had a whole new interior and green carpets completed for a Worcestershire customer. Beautiful Sonneland ‘Mohair’ is shown in the making of this tonneau and hood for a 1997 Plus 8 which came down from the north of England.
